Taxonomy. Distribution. Red Sea, western Indian Ocean: East Africa, South Africa, Socotra, Madagascar and Persian Gulf east to western India; Mediterranean Sea (Red Sea immigrant).

Conservation. IUCN: Global ( LC: 28 June 2018). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Very common. Significant increase in the last two decades. Non-indigenous species, no conservation action needed .
