Material studied. Type material: Holotype, 3 [ Croatia], labelled: ” Type ” [rounded with red margin]; genital praeparat nr. B 2.11.89 sex: 3, E. Traugott-Olsen; Insel Krk YU Punat, 19.VI.1984, Habeler leg. Akvarel, 15- VI-90, E. Traugott-Olsen; Mendesia huemeri sp. n. det. E. Traugott-Olsen. Paratype 3 slide from specimen with the same collection data as in the holotype, U. Parenti 92 11978 ( TLMF).

Other material. Hungary: Cerecse hg. Epöl, 11.VI.2003, 1 ♀, Cs. Szabóky leg. (L. Kaila prep. 4348, Coll. Tokár).

Turkey: 50 km SE Seydisehir, 13.VI. 2002, 1 3, T. Nupponen leg. (L. Kaila prep. 4035, Coll. Nupponen).

Description. Female ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 6 ): Forewing length 6 mm. Length of labial palpus 0.6 times diameter of head; second segment weakly ascending, otherwise drooping, pale ochreous. Head, neck tuft, scape and pedicel of antenna white, flagellum grey, scape with pecten consisting of dense row of white stiff scales. Tegula and thorax white. Legs white with pale ochreous tibia and tarsal segments. Forewing broad lanceolate, unicolorous snow white, with concolorous fringe scales. Underside of forewing pale grey, fringe scales white. Hindwing pale grey above and below, fringe scales white. Female genitalia ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 22 - 24 ): Papillae anales fused dorsodistally with non-elastic membrane, distally tapered to joined sclerotised apex, basally with long setae; membranous sac between papillae anales ventrodistally, armed with coarse teeth forming a row of large teeth at cephalic end. Apophyses posteriores 1.5 times longer than papillae anales, straight and stout; apophyses anteriores less than 0.5 length of apophyses posteriores, curved, stout. Ostium bursae rhomboidal, with folded and sclerotised margins derived from caudal margin of sternum 8 which is deeply incised mesally, width of incision about 0.25 distance between bases of apophyses anteriores; antrum absent. In length colliculum equal to apophyses anteriores; ductus seminalis narrow, tubular, joined cephalically to colliculum. Ductus bursae membranous, straight and tubular, 2.5 times length of apophyses posteriores. Corpus bursae pyriform, medially densely covered with small internal spines; signum in caudal 0.25 of corpus bursae, boomerangshaped and dentate.

Distribution. Croatia, Hungary, Turkey.

Remarks. The female is here newly described. The male genitalia of the holotype slide ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 12 – 14 ) are distorted due to too much flattening during preparation. Fig. 14 View FIGURES 12 – 14 shows the genitalia prepared in a technique similar to other genital slides shown in this paper. A paratype slide with the same collecting information as the holotype, dissected by U. Parenti (92 11978), is less flattened than the holotype slide, but more than slides prepared by the present author. Not surprisingly, the shape of the valva and the phallus in that preparation appears intermediate between the holotype and that of Kaila prep. 4035 ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 12 – 14 ). This species is new to Turkey.
