[BM] 4058 / Minakatella longifila / G. Lister/ On bark of living Diospyros kaki / Tanabe, Kii, Japan, Aug.24.1917/ leg. Kumagusu Minakata/ BM001062135 [sheet label dated: 3 FEB.1927].
NOTES: G. Lister (1921a: 93) commented “Found on bark and lichen on the trunk of a living Persimmon tree, Diospyros Kaki , near Tanabe on the island of Kii, Japan, in August, 1917, by Mr. Kumagusu Minakata. The specimen consisted of four clusters of sporangia, two of which were slightly broken.”.
In BM there is a box ( BM 4058 ), with all the data of the label the same as the publication, so it is certainly the original material studied by G.Lister. The collection is in good condition and we consider it to be the lectotype of the species. In notebook XL: 76–82 there are notes and illustrations of this same material and a postcard from Minakata. No slides located .
