Type material. Holotype, male ( SEMC): “ VENEZUELA: Táchira \ Táriba , 40.3 km NE, 2420 m \ 7°58’20’’N, 72°9’15’’W 30 MAY \ 1998; J. Ashe, R. Brooks, R. Hanley \ VEN1ABH98 161 ex: fungusy log”.

Diagnosis. Small species (TL 2.6 mm) with elongated body. Penis distinctly narrowed in the middle of its length, tergite VIII with distinct process in the middle of apical margin, flanked with two emarginations covered with spines. Similar to C. borowieci sp. nov. but body is more elongated and its sides are subparallel.

Description. Male. Body elongated, convex, covered with whitish, suberect setae. Body dark brown, legs, antennae, and mouthparts yellowish. Head broad, 1.6× wider than width of interocular space, almost impunctate, eyes moderately large, not protuberant. Pronotum transverse, widest at its base. Disc of pronotum with very fine, granulate punctation, punctures separated by ca. 3.0–4.0× diameter of a puncture. Posterior margin of pronotum subtly bisinuate. Anterior angles protruding anteriorly, subtriangular, posterior angles obtuse. Scutellar shield subtriangular, covered with subtle punctation, similar to those on pronotum. Elytra elongate, without traces of longitudinal ridges, subparallel in basal 2/3, regularly converging to apex in posterior 1/3. Humeri well marked. Punctation much stronger than on pronotum, distance between punctures ca. the diameter of a puncture.

Male genitalia. Penis (L 0.78 mm, W 0.18 mm, Fig. 17A View FIGURE 17 ) long, distinctly widened in basal portion, parameroids short, rounded at apices, slightly curved, trigonium subtriangular, rounded at apex. Tegmen (L 0.60 mm, W 0.20 mm, Fig. 17B View FIGURE 17 ) long, sides diverging, apex with lobes covered with setae. Sternite IX (L 0.28 mm, W 0.17 mm, Fig. 17B View FIGURE 17 ) subtriangular, with paired apodemes, apical margin rounded, apical portion covered with short, sparse setae. Tergite VIII (L 0.33 mm, W 0.32 mm, Fig. 17C View FIGURE 17 ) with relatively short apical plate, central portion projecting, with two subtriangular denticles, lateral parts of apical margin with 4–5 sharp denticles on each side, and several smaller ones, apodemes longer than apical plate. Tergite IX (L 0.30 mm, W 0.24 mm, Fig. 17D View FIGURE 17 ) with membranous apical plate, apodemes longer than apical plate.

Female. Unknown.

Measurements and ratios. Male (n = 1) TL 2.63 mm, PL 0.43 mm, PW 1.00 mm, EL 2.30 mm, EW 1.47 mm, TL/EW 1.80, PW/PL 2.31, EL/EW 1.57, EL/PL 5.31.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality in Venezuela.

Etymology. Named after Venezuela, where the type locality of the species is located.
