Colobaea canadensis has been found only in the province of Manitoba, Canada. It most closely resembles C. bifasciella in that both species have a dull, tomentose, setose, yellow frons; a similarly shaped head; two pairs of postalar setae; and R 1 extending to the level of the r-m crossvein. These two species can be readily distinguished from each other, however, as C. canadensis has a mainly shiny black body and unpatterned wings, whereas C. bifasciella has a yellow body with black markings and patterned wings. Nothing is known about the biology or immature stages of C. canadensis .
