Type Locality: " Peru;" restricted to montane Perú by Wetzel and Mondolfi (1979).

Vernacular Names: Hairy Long-nosed Armadillo.

Synonyms: Dasypus hirsutus (Burmeister 1862) .

Distribution: Known only from the Peruvian Andes in the departments of San Martín, La Libertad, Huánuco, and Junín.

Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable.
