Hemacroneuria baotianmana View in CoL sp. nov.

Figs. 2–9 View FIGURE 2 View FIGURE 9 .

Adult habitus. Body color mostly pale, with dark markings on head and thorax ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 , 7). Head narrower than pronotum, with a dark, subquadrate ocellate stigma; triocellate, anterior ocellus smaller than posterior ones; a subtriangular dark median mark presents between central M-line and clypeus. Antenna dark brown and slender, subequal in length to the abdomen. Pronotum long oval, mostly black with pale lateral margins, covered with rugosities. Wing membrane mostly dark brown, veins dark (Fig. 3). Coxae pale; femur, tibia and tarsi dark brown. Cercus pale brown.

Male ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 –6). Body length ca. 20.0 mm. Tergum 9 without sensilla basiconica. Tergum 10 with a deep triangular notch at anterior margin, median area with two patches of sensilla basiconica which are separated by a median groove; two small humps present lateral to the sensilla basiconica patches (Figs. 4, 5). Paraprocts sclerotized and hairy, triangular with sharp apices. Posterior of sternum 9 with a circular hammer, posterolateral area of the hammer pale and butterfly-shaped. Aedeagus mostly membranous, apically with a dorsally split lobe; from dorsal view, apical half of aedeagus weakly sclerotized and spinulose, with two lateral lobes bent ventrad; from ventral view, the two lateral lobes projected apically and connected with the rugose apical lobe (Fig. 6).

Female (Figs. 7, 8A). Body length ca. 19.0 mm, body color identical to the male. Subgenital plate originating from half-length of sternum 8, basally constricted, broadly rounded, posterior margin slightly truncate, reaching posterior area of sternum 10 (Fig. 8A).

Egg (Fig. 8B–D). Length ca. 0.6 mm, width ca. 0.38 mm. Color generally dark brown, equatorial area darker, waterdrop-shaped with a deep subapical concavity. Collar very small, flat and dark. Chorion strongly sclerotized and smooth, without micropyles.

Type material. Holotype: male, China: Henan Province ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ), Nanyang City, Neixiang County, Baotianman Scenic Area ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ), 33°30′24.53″N, 111°55′43.92″E, 1200–1400 m, June 24, 2019, leg. Jia-Lin Hou ( ICJUST) GoogleMaps . Paratypes: four females, China: Shaanxi Province, Xi’an City, Huyi District, Zhuque National Forest Park , 33°49′9.77″N, 108°35′44.72″E, 1500m, July 9–20, 2019, leg. Etymology. The species is named after its type locality, Baotianman Scenic Area of Henan Province. The name is used as a noun.

Remarks. The new species can be easily separated from congeners by the much narrower area of dark markings on head and pronotum, the deep triangular notch at anterior margin of tergum 10, the circular hammer surrounded by a butterfly-shaped pale area ( Wu 1948, Stark & Sivec 2008, Li et al. 2019). Aedeagus of the new species is similar to H. elongata and H. ovalis in having paired lateral lobes but is distinctive by additional different shaped lobes ( Li et al. 2019). The egg of the new species apparently differs from the egg of H. malickyi Stark & Sivec, 2008 by having different a shape, chorion, and collar ( Stark & Sivec 2008). Species of Hemacroneuria are similar to those of genus Brahmana Klapálek, 1914 in having similar color pattern and male terminalia, but the males of Hemacroneuria can be distinguished from those of Brahmana by the presence of paired posterior protuberances on tergum 10. It is worth noting that Cao & Bae (2013) described the male, female, and nymph of the supposed Brahmana flavomarginata Wu, 1962 from northern Vietnam. This taxon may be another Hemacroneuria , which should be confirmed by examining the types.

Chinoperla mengmanensis Qian & Du, 2012 Figs. 10–14.

Chinoperla mengmanensis Qian & Du, 2012 . Entomotaxonomia 34(2): 117; Yang & Li, 2018. Species Catalogue of China. Vol. 2. Animals, Insecta (III), Plecoptera : 36.

Material examined. Two males and two females, China: Yunnan Province, Mengla County, Laman Highway, 21°20′53.25″N, 101°18′33.79″E, 1400m, April 26, 2019, leg. Shen Ji ( ICJUST).

Distribution. China: Yunnan Province.

Remarks on morphology. New images of C. mengmanensis are presented in Figs. 10–14. In the male, abdominal sterna 3–5 each has a median patch of spines (Fig. 11); the Y-shaped median sclerite of tergum 9 has a dentate margin (Figs. 11–12); the aedeagus has a distinct apical lobe and two less distinct subapical lobes (Fig. 13). In the female, the posterior margin of abdominal sternum 8 is unproduced but has a C-shaped median sclerite ( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 ). The female of C. mengmanensis is similar to other congeners by having a less developed subgenital plate ( Sivec & Stark 2010). The male of C. mengmanensis is distinctive from congeners by the dentate V-shaped sclerite on tergum 9, and by the mostly membranous aedeagus with three apical lobes.
