DISTRIBUTION. — New Caledonia: west coast: Koumac; east coast: Passe de Hienghène; Loyalty Islands: Lifou, Baie

du Santal; Vanuatu; shells in 115- 622 m.

DESCRIPTION. — Shell up to 4.2 mm long, globose, translucent white. Maximum diameter close to centre of shell. Apical constriction short. In lateral view, ventral side has a regular, pronounced curve to the short caudal sector, dorsal side has an alternating very sligthly concave and convex outline. Dorsal view fusiform. Apex simple, section oval, dorsoventrally compressed. Preapical callus conspicuous, lumen oval dorsoventrally. Mouth slightly laterally compressed, oblique.

Measurements of holotype: L 4.2, W 1.28-1.20, mouth 0.68-0.52, w 0.52-0.44.

REMARKS. — Cadulus deverdensis is similar to C. aequatorialis Jaeckel, 1932 , from Indonesia, in most characters, but

in the new species the apex slopes more strongly obliquely on the ventral side.

ETYMOLOGY. — From Passe Deverd, the type locality.
