Material examined. PG: 1 male ( ZUTC 6682 ), Bushehr, Coll. R. Naderloo, 3 Apr. 2015 ; 1 male and 1 female ( ZUTC 6683 ), Hormuz I., on dead corals, Coll. A. Dehghani, 15 May 2016 ; GO: 2 males, 2 ovig. females ( ZUTC 6684 ) Chabahar Bay, Tis , on dead corals, Coll. A. Sari and A. Kazemi, 2 May 2014 .

Distribution. Indo-West Pacific: from Red Sea to Micronesia and Samoa.

Regional records. PG and GO: Iran (present study).

Habitat. Found under coral rubble or in crevices of dead coral heads.

Remark. This species belongs to the Alpheus paracrinitus Miers, 1881 species complex, but shows a distinct distribution pattern compared to A. paracrinitus . This species is distinguishable from A. paracrinitus by absence of balaeniceps on minor chela. Geographically, A. paracrinitus is an amphi-Atlantic species while A. alpheopsides occurs in the Indo-West Pacific.
