Types. Holotype: ♂, 900–1000m, Jinxiu, Guangxi, China, 23.VII.2014, George Ho Wai-Chun (HKES); Paratypes: 1♀ & 16 eggs (naturally laid by paratype ♀), 900–1000m, Jinxiu, Guangxi, China, 23.VII.2014, George Ho Wai Chun (HKES); 1♂, 900–1000m, Jinxiu, Guangxi, China, 13.VII.2014, Song Xiao-Bin (SNUC).

Diagnosis. Micadina songxiaobini sp. nov. [ China (Guangxi)] is similar to M. involuta Günther, 1940 [ China (Fujian)], but can be separated by elongate posterolateral angles of ninth abdominal tergum in male and posteriorly emarginated abdominal subgenital plate in female.

Description. Male (Figs. 5–7, 24–26, 30). Green and small. Body slender, distinctly thinner and smaller than female.

Head: Smooth and oval. Vertex with a shallow and oval depression between bases of antennae, length of depression shorter than pedicellus of antennae. Occiput rounded, median and lateral longitudinal furrows distinct, end of furrows reaching posterior margin of head. Compound eyes oval. Antennae brown, with light brown rings; long and filiform, longer than forelegs, segments indistinct; scapus cylindrical, almost as long as third segment; pedicellus shorter than scapus.

Thorax: Pronotum rectangular, distinctly shorter and narrower than head, transverse and longitudinal sulci crossing before middle area, sparsely granulated; anterior margin curved inwards, posterior margin truncate. Mesonotum as long as combined length of metanotum and median segment, densely covered with small granules; with distinct median longitudinal carina and a short lateral longitudinal carina on each side of the median longitudinal carina before middle area of segment. Mesosternum densely covered with small granules. Mesopleurae sparsely granulated. Metapleurae and metasternum smooth.

Abdomen: Cylindrical and slender. Parallel-sided from second to seventh tergites. Eighth tergum moderately expanded posteriorly. Ninth tergum expanded posteriorly, lateral surfaces swollen, posterolateral angles elongated posteriorly, apex pointed and reaching middle area of anal segment. Anal segment longer than eighth tergum, triangularly emarginated posteriorly, posterolateral angles thickened and slightly curved inwards, inner surfaces with small dentations. Poculum smooth, tapering posteriorly, apex rounded, reaching posterior margin of ninth tergum. Cerci cylindrical, long and straight, tapering posteriorly, longer than anal segment.

Legs: Slender. Unarmed. Femora green, with dark apices. Tibiae reddish. Profemora incurved basally, almost shorter than metafemora. Mesofemora nearly as long as mesotibiae.

Wings: Tegmina as long as head, protruding near middle area. Alae long, posterior apices surpassing seventh abdominal tergum, costal region green, anal region dull rose.

Female (Figs. 8–9, 27–29, 31). Generally green, prosternum, mesosternum, metasternum and ventral surface of abdomen white. Generally similar to male, but distinctly larger and more robust.

Head: Smooth, oval, longer than wide. Vertex with a shallow and oval depression between bases of antennae, length of depression longer than pedicellus of antennae. Occiput rounded and convex. Median and lateral longitudinal furrows distinct, end of furrows reaching posterior margin of head. Compound eyes oval, longer than scapus. Antennae brown, with green rings, long and filiform, longer than forelegs; scapus shorter than third segment, cylindrical; pedicellus shorter than scapus.

Thorax: Thick-built. Pronotum sparsely granulated, narrower than head, longitudinal and transverse sulci crossing before middle area. Mesonotum densely granulated, mediolongitudinally carinate. Mesopleurae covered with a few small granules. Mesosternum covered with indistinct granules. Metapleurae and metasternum lacking granulation.

Abdomen: Cylindrical, tapering posteriorly, sparsely covered with short bristles. Seventh sternum lacking noticeable praeopercular organ. Anal segment longer than ninth tergum, with an emargination on posterior margin. Supra-anal plate distinct, posterior margin rounded. Subgenital plate short, laterolongitudinally carinate, apex emarginated and reaching posterior margin of ninth tergum. Gonapophyses exposed, apices pointed and not reaching middle area of anal segment. Cerci cylindrical and straight, apices pointed and surpassing posterior margin of anal segment.

Legs: Unarmed. Slender. Uniformly green. All femora nearly as long as corresponding tibiae.

Wings: Tegmina oval, posterior margin truncate, shorter than head, with blunt elevated angle near middle area. Alae short, posterior apices reaching fifth abdominal tergum, costal region green.

Eggs (Figs. 10–11, 272–273). Capsule grayish brown, bucket-shaped, webbed. Micropylar plate oblong, elongated anteriorly, anterior apex pointed, posterior apex rounded. Micropylar cup placed near posterior apex of micropylar plate. Median line indistinct. Operculum grayish brown, webbed, oval, lacking capitulum, gently convex medially, marginally thickened.

Measurements. Length 2.0 mm, width 1.2 mm, height 1.4 mm.

Distribution. China (Guangxi).

Etymology. This new species is named in honour of Song Xiao-Bin [specialist of Staphylinidae (Coleoptera) , Shanghai, China] who helped me in many ways during the collecting trips in Guangxi, China.

Genus Necroscia Audinet-Serville, 1838

Type-species. Necroscia roseipennis Audinet-Serville, 1838: 250 , by subsequent designation of Kirby, 1904: 436. = Aruanoidea Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893: 84 [Synonymised by Hennemann, 1998: 121].

Description. Medium-sized. Colouration variable, mainly in green, yellow or brown. Body long and slender. Head oval or rounded. Mesonotum usually granulated. Abdomen smooth. Seventh sternum rarely with praeopercular organ in female. Female subgenital plate scoop-shaped, tapering posteriorly, posterior margin emarginated. Male poculum small, cup-shaped. Anal segment with emargination on posterior margin. Supra-anal plate usually prominent in female. Cerci long and cylindrical, straight or curved inwards. Legs unarmed and slender. Tegmina small and oval. Alae long, anal region with coloured markings or uniformly coloured. Egg capsule bullet-shaped, tapering posteriorly. Micropylar plate oblong.

Distribution. China (Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and Yunnan), Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Thailand and Vietnam.

Notes. One of the speciose genera in Chinese Necrosciinae and currently nine species are recognised ( Ho, 2010, 2013c, d & e & 2016). The specimens of Necroscia inflexipes ( Olivier, 1792) is believed lost ( Hennemann et al., 2008a) and therefore not included in the key. Necroscia perplexus ( Redtenbacher, 1908) and N. shukayi ( Bi, Zhang & Lau, 2001) are currently placed in Maculonecroscia Seow-Choen, 2016 and Necroscia marginata ( Gray, 1835) is currently transferred to Paranecroscia Redtenbacher, 1908 (Seow-Choen, 2016).

4. Necroscia inflata ( Redtenbacher, 1908: 526) . [ Aruanoidea ]

Distribution. China, Singapore, Peninsular Malaysia and Indonesia.

5. Necroscia inflexipes ( Olivier, 1792: 641) [ Mantis ]

= Phasma curvipes Stoll, 1813: 43 , pl. 13: 52. [Synonymised by Kirby, 1904: 374] = Phasma valgum Lichtenstein, 1796: 78 . [Synonymised by Kirby, 1904: 374] Distribution. China.

6. Necroscia mista ( Chen & He, 2008: 110, figs. 75a – b). [ Aruanoidea ] Distribution. China (Guangdong).

7. Necroscia multicolor ( Redtenbacher, 1908: 523) . [ Aruanoidea ] = Aruanoidea incerta Carl, 1913: 54 . [Synonymised by Günther, 1 935: 140] = Aruanoidea maculata Chen & He, 2000: 396 , fig. 2. [Synonymised by Ho, 2013c: 26] Distribution. China (Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan) and Vietnam.

8. Necroscia notata ( Chen & Zhang, 2008: 245, figs. 1 – 3). [ Aruanoidea ] Distribution. China (Yunnan).
