Stromboscerides Lacordaire, 1865: 306 [stem: Stromboscer-]. Type genus: Stromboscerus Schönherr, 1837. Comment: original vernacular name available (Art. 11.7.2): first used in latinized form by Pascoe (1870b: 437, as Strombocerinae [incorrect stem formation]), generally accepted as in Alonso-Zarazaga and Lyal (1999: 68, as Stromboscerinae ).
