Subfamily Polistinae Lepeletier

Two genera of this subfamily were collected. The following key allows separation of the two genera known from Iran.

1. Metasomal segment I subsessile: evenly conical in dorsal view ( Fig. 76 ), smoothly rounded in lateral view ( Fig. 77 ); propodeum with orifice dorsally acute ( Fig. 78 ) ............................................. Polistes Latreille
