DIAGNOSIS. This species is most similar to A. rectangularis , but A. concavana can be distinguished by the absence of the translucent patch of the HW, a narrower costal fold on the male FW, and cornuti which are perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the aedeagus.

REDESCRIPTION. MALE. FW length 7.5–8.6 mm (mean = 8.3; n = 6). HEAD: Frons convex, naked. Vertex rough scaled, light brown. Antenna scaling light brown. Labial palpus 1.0X length of antennal space. Labial palpus III segment 0.25 or less the length of II segment and positioned at nearly 90º from II segment, light brown laterally, inner surface paler. THORAX: Dorsum and tegula smooth scaled, light brown, with line of dark brown scales over anterior margin. FW ground pale yellow with brownish marks in median and postmedian area near costa. Costal fold narrow (2-3 mm wide) reaching 0.25 of costal length. HW dorsal scaling beige with darker apex. ABDOMEN: Light brown. Genitalia as in Fig. 84 (slide # 5814, EME, Honduras; n = 4). Transtilla rectangular, uniformly covered with spines on dorsum. Valva subrectangular. Sacculus sclerotized, 0.7X length of valva, extending to margin, emarginate in basal 0.5, with subdistal ventral spine. Aedeagus 0.9X length of valva, even curved throughout, with cornuti arranged perpendicular to longitudinal axis of aedeagus.

DISTRIBUTION AND BIOLOGY. The known distribution of this species is from Panama to Mexico and Cuba (Fig. 136) from 50 to 300 m elevation. Capture records indicate the presence of A. concavana throughout the dry and rainy seasons in Central America.

HOST PLANT RECORDS. Amorbia concavana was reared from Inga vera , Phaseolus sp. , Mimosa pigra (Fabaceae) , and Hammelia sp. ( Rubiaceae ) (Appendix III).

REMARKS. Amorbia effoetana (Möshler, 1890) , the type specimen of which we were unable to locate, could be conspecific with A. concavana . We assign to A. concavana material previously identified as A. phaseolana Busck , which was treated as a junior synonym of Amorbia effoetana .
