Amorbia osmotris Meyrick, 1932 View in CoL , Exotic Microlepid. 4: 263.

DIAGNOSIS. This species is easily distinguished by the unmodified vertex of the head and the forewing costal fold without spines. It is most similar to A. exustana , but A. osmotris can be distinguished by the presence of struts of the socii and the sacculus extending to the margin of the valva.

REDESCRIPTION. MALE. FW length 12.0–14.0 mm (mean = 13.0; n = 10). HEAD: Frons convex, white scaled, vertex rough, rust colored. Antenna with brown scaling. Labial palpus at least 3.0X length of antennal space, porrect, rust colored laterally, lighter on inner surface. THORAX: Dorsum smooth scaled, rust colored; tegula concolorous. FW ground color light brown, pattern variable from extremely faint to well developed bands or patches. Costal fold well developed, short, reaching 0.25 of FW length. HW white with gray mottling toward apex, cubital pecten at base of vein. ABDOMEN: Light brown. Genitalia as in Fig. 76 (slide # JAP 3131, EME, Costa Rica, Cartago, Cerro de la Muerte; n = 11). Struts of socii present. Valva subrectangular. Sacculus sclerotized, extending beyond margin of valva, emarginate in distal 0.5. Aedeagus 0.7X length of valva, slender, curved in distal 0.25.

FEMALE. FW length 14.0–15.0 mm (mean = 14.6; n = 10). HEAD and THORAX: As described for male. ABDOMEN: Genitalia as in Fig. 100 (slide # 2472228, INBio, Costa Rica, San José, Estación Cuericí; n = 5). Lamella antevaginalis with lateral pockets pointed anteriorly; median sinus rounded. Ductus bursae parallel-sided, posterior 0.25 with boot-shaped sclerotization .
