Lectotype (Howard, Fl. Lesser Antilles 6: 57. 1989): [icon] " Anona, foliis subtus ferrugineis, fructu rotundo majore, laevi, purpureo, semine nigro, partim rugoso, partim glabro " in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 2: 170, t. 229. 1725. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 7: 101 ( BM-SL) .

Generitype of Chrysophyllum Linnaeus.

Current name: Chrysophyllum cainito L. View in CoL ( Sapotaceae ).

Note: Although Malik (in Nasir & Ali, Fl. Pakistan 163: 3. 1984) indicated 260.1 (LINN) as type, it is a Patrick Browne specimen not received by Linnaeus until after 1753 and hence not original material for the name.
