Genus Xyphinus Simon, 1890 View in CoL View at ENA
Remarks. This genus currently contains 20 species, which have mainly been recorded in tropical Asia and Australia ( World Spider Catalog 2023). This genus was established based on the type species X. hystrix Simon, 1893 from Singapore. Although spiders of the genus have well-developed scutum, which are similar to that those in Gamasomorpha and Xestaspis , the genital morphology differs from the latter two genera. The female epigastric region has a clear external protuberance and the distal part of the male palp is blunt, branching into many thin membranous parts, forming a complex ( Kranz-Baltensperger 2014).
