Subgenus Homobezzia View in CoL glabra group

Diagnosis. (Modified from Spinelli & Wirth 1989a). Moderately large species, pollinose gray with brownish scutal vittae and yellowish scutellum. Interocular space without stout median seta. Male flagellum with distal flagellomeres elongated; segment 13 without stout black basal seta. Scutum usually pollinose, pale pinkish to dark grayish, usually with median brown vitta anteriorly and a pair of lateral vittae posteriorly; setae of scutellum and above wing bases poorly developed. Wing translucent, usually unmarked. Legs extensively yellowish, with narrow dark bands usually present; femora and tibiae at most with broad brown bands on 1 pair of legs; vestiture not strong or bristly; fore femur unarmed ventrally; female claws small; with 1 or 2 pairs of gland rods. Male gonocoxite short, gonostyles about as long as gonocoxite, slightly curved and usually with blunt tip; aedeagus various, usually triangular; height of basal arch, breadth of distal process, and extent of ventral spicules vary with species; parameres with long rod-like distal process, sometimes slightly narrowed in midportion and or slightly broader apically, with tip rounded.

This group includes six species in the Neotropical region ( Spinelli & Wirth 1989a), one species ranges north into the Nearctic region ( B. glabra ).
