Diagnosis. The new species is similar to A. cochleata sp. nov. in male genitalia. It can be distinguished from A. cochleata by the yellowish brown forewing; and by the broadly ovoid gnathos and the cuiller not curved outward distally in the male genitalia. In A. cochleata , the forewing is dark brown; the gnathos is elongate fusiform and the cuiller is curved outward distally.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 9‒16 ). Wingspan 16.0‒23.0 mm.

Head brown, with white-tipped scales on frons, occiput with erect white-tipped brown scale tufts laterally and posteriorly. Labial palpus with basal segment black on outer surface, white on inner surface; second segment brown mixed with white and black scales, white scales denser on inner surface, scales on ventral surface longitudinally sulcate in middle, without protruding scales; third segment yellow mixed with brown scales, dark brown at apex. Antenna with scape dark brown except white terminally; flagellum dark brown alternated with yellowish brown, mottled with reddish brown scales on basal several flagellomeres.

Mesonotum and tegula brown, mesonotum with a pair of erect white-tipped brown scale tufts posteriorly, tegula white laterally. Legs dark brown; coxa of foreleg with white scales ventrally at apex, tibiae of fore- and midlegs with white scales dorsally, tibia of hindleg with white scales on outside, yellowish white on inside; tarsus of foreleg with white scales on basal one tarsomere, yellow at apex of apical one tarsomere, tarsus of midleg white at base of basal one tarsomere and white at apex of each tarsomere, tarsus of hindleg mixed with sparse white scales on inside of basal one tarsomere and white at apex of each tarsomere; all femora mixed with white scales apically.

Forewing ground colour yellowish brown, with white, brown and black scales; with white-tipped erect scale tufts at base, nearly fan-shaped; costal margin with numerous white dots and short streaks irregularly arranged, interrupted by brown and dark brown scales; cell with a white spot beyond middle, edged with black scales on inner margin, with a second smaller white spot on outer margin, surrounded by sparse black scales; short dark brown streaks laid over distal part of forewing; fringe greyish brown, yellowish white at base. Hindwing grey; fringe grey mixed with greyish white, greyish white at base.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 30‒35 ). Uncus triangular, with a small notch medioapically ( Fig. 33a View FIGURES 30‒35 ). Socii narrowed near base, inflated distally. Gnathos broadly ovoid, with fine spines. Valva wide at base, narrowed to apex, slightly convex basally on ventral margin. Transtilla a narrow band; transtilla lobes membranous, dilated, setose. Sacculus reaching beyond 1/3 length of valva; cuiller slender except enlarged in fan-shaped shape apically, apically with dense small spines, reaching anterior 1/3 from costa. Juxta triangularly concave medially on posterior margin, shrunken laterally at anterior 1/4; lateral lobes enlarged medially, with setae on inner margin, apically acute and reaching posterior margin of juxta. Phallus tubular; cornuti being numerous tiny spinules.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 47 View FIGURES 46‒49 ). Apophyses anteriores about half length of apophyses posteriores. Eighth sternal plate trapezoidally produced anteriorly. Ostium in middle of eighth sternite. Ductus bursae long, membranous, slightly dilated before posterior end and with pleat posterolaterally ( Fig. 47a View FIGURES 46‒49 ); ductus seminalis arising from posterior part of ductus bursae. Corpus bursae pyriform, with dense granules; signum sub-rhombic, with several unequal teeth, largest at both sides.

Distribution. China (Chongqing, Guizhou, Hubei).

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin niv- and macularis, referring to the white spots along the costal margin of the forewing.
