Diagnosis: Dorsal shield setae J4 and J5 of different lengths; lateral and opisthogastric soft integument with 14 pairs of setae; anterior tips of peritremes extending to dorsal surface of shield; one pair of posterolateral teat-like gland pores gdS4 on shield, gdZ1 large and circular and paraxial to line Z1–Z2. In males, cheliceral spermatodactyl more than 4–6 times length of moveable digit, gradually tapering towards distal part; tarsus II with spur-like distal seta pl1 and smaller opposite anterolateral process.

Material examined: 10 females, 4 males, Adana Province, June 2017, in litter, no further details .

Female

Dorsum ( Figure 1 View FIGURES 1–2 ). Dorsal shield 540–630 long, 375–425 wide at widest point, length/width 1.37–1.48, oval, reticulate on surface, with 30 pairs of smooth and pointed setae, clunal setae J5 23–26 long, J4 62–73, ratio J4 / J5 2.64–3.04; a pair of posterolateral teat-like gland pores gdS4 on shield, gdZ1 circular, and paraxial to line Z1–Z2. Dorsal setae j1 28–33 long; z1 24–30, j4, j5, j6, z5, s6, S1 and S3 45–60, other dorsal setae between 60 and 80 long.

Venter ( Figure 2 View FIGURES 1–2 ) Sternal shield 175–185 long, 98–105 wide at level of coxae II, its surface ornamented with reticulate pattern, bearing four pairs of pointed setae and three pairs of pores; setae st1 and st2 equal (55–58); st3 shortest (about 40), st4 45–50. Genitiventral shield usually wider than long, length/width ratio 0.91–0.1.05 (longer than wide in two specimens that were prepared for detailed examination under high pressure between slide and coverslip), ornamented with a polygonal pattern, bearing two pairs of setae ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 36–44 ). Anal shield 60–75 long, 110–125 wide, length/width 0.53–0.67, triangular, some lines on edges of shield. One pair of bar-shaped metapodal shields present. Lateral and opisthogastric soft integument with 14 pairs of setae (six pairs of marginal and eight pairs of opisthogastric). Anterior tips of peritremes extend to dorsal surface of shield and lie between setae z1 and z2.

Spermathecal apparatus. Sperm access system associated with coxae III, tubes long, indistinct.

Gnathosoma . Hypostome with seta h3 longest, h2 and palp coxal seta pc shortest and subequal in length; corniculi horn-like and lanceolate, deutosternal groove with six rows of denticles. Epistome with straight denticulate lateral margins and central projection with strong apical serration ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 9–23 ), its surface decorated as in Fig. 41 View FIGURES 36–44 . Chelicera well developed with strong subdistal teeth; movable digit 60 − 63 long, with a large subdistal tooth, a small subdistal denticle and unidentate terminal hook, fixed digit about 63 long (to the dorsal seta), with a minute pilus dentilis ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 24–29 ). Arthrodial brush short.

Legs. Chaetotaxy normal for the genus ( Mašán, 2007). Tarsus II with a thicker spur-like setae pl1 ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 9–23 ).

Male

Dorsum. Dorsal idiosoma 480–500 long, 285–300 wide at widest point, length/width 1.63–1.67. Ornamentation and dorsal chaetotaxy as for female.

Venter. Holoventral shield with reticulate pattern and 5 pairs of needle-like setae and 3 pairs of pores. Opisthogastric area of shield with three pairs of setae, three circum-anal setae. Dorso-lateral and opisthogastric soft integument with 9 pairs of setae.

Gnathosoma . Epistome with dentate anterolateral margins, median process short and wide, with strong apical dentition. Moveable digit of chelicera 53–58 long, with a large subterminal tooth near the unidentate terminal hook, spermatodactyl 240–290 long, more than 4–5 times as long as moveable digit, progressively narrowed in distal part, whip-shaped ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 24–29 ). Fixed digit with one medium and one large subdistal teeth and terminal hook, pilus dentilis clearly visible. Palptibiae without any processes.

Legs. Tarsus II with one spur-like seta p11 and opposite anterolateral apophysal spur; apophysal spur smaller than pl1 ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 30–35 ). Femur II with a large spur-like process; genu and tibia each with a small ventral distal process. Femur, genu, and tibia of leg IV with triangular processes on distal portion of ventral side ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 30–35 ).

Taxonomic notes. Onchodellus karawaiewi was last described and illustrated in detail by Mašán (2007), which is sufficient for a simple diagnosis. There are some differences in metrical data between the Turkish and Slovak specimens, such as J4/J5, body length, rate spermatodactyl/moveable digit (respectively 1.7–2.7; 505–595; 5–6 in Slovakia, 2.64–3.04; 540–630; 4–5 in Türkiye). Descriptions, drawings, and photographs of Turkish specimens are presented in this article to provide further details about this common Palaearctic species. This species is now recorded in Türkiye for the first time.
