Holotype: ♂ PAPUA NEW GUINEA, Milne Bay Prov., Louisiade Archipelago, Misima Island, south coast, Yaua Creek , above Bwagabwaga village , 230 m a.s.l., 10°40’47”S, 152°40’26”E (-10.679833, 152.673944), water temp. 22.5°C., 4.IX.2002, 09:00–09:30 hrs., CL 7205, D.A. Polhemus ( BPBM). GoogleMaps

Paratypes: PAPUA NEW GUINEA, Milne Bay Prov., Misima Island : 3 ♂♂, same data as holotype ( BPBM, USNM) GoogleMaps .

Additional material examined (not paratypes): PAPUA NEW GUINEA, Milne Bay Prov., Misima Island: 2 ♂♂, Mt. Sisa, north slopes, Mararoa , 1150 ft., Ara Creek headwater area, 18.VII.1956, leg. 5th Archbold Expedition ( RMNH) [the locality on envelope reads: “ Misima I., Camp 7,” with additional locality details taken from Brass (1959)] .

Etymology. The name “misima” refers to Misima Island, to which this species is endemic.
