Lauterborniella Thienemann & Bause, 1913 View in CoL
We collected Lauterborniella agrayloides (Kieffer, 1911) adults from a Lake in the Kanuti National Wildlife Refuge in late July. Based on molecular DNA barcoding, Bowser et al. (2020, 2023) reported larval specimens of this species from the Slikok and Miller Creeks watersheds on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Lauterborniella larvae have been reported from various lakes in the Cook Inlet area ( Arctos 2023). We collected L. agrayloides larvae from several lakes in the Southeastern bioregion, including Klakas, Balls, and Loon Lakes on Prince of Wales Island. Larvae of this species live in transportable cases resembling those of Hydroptila caddisflies. They are found among aquatic vegetation in small bodies of standing water ( Epler 2001).
