Coniella Höhn., Ber. Deutsch. Bot. Ges. View in CoL View at ENA 36: 316 (1918)

Index Fungorum number: IF7753

Type species: Coniella pulchella Höhn., Berichte der Deutschen Botanischen Gesellschaft View in CoL 36: 316 (1918).

Notes: Monotypic genus Coniella View in CoL was originally established and typified by Co. pulchella View in CoL , and later it was accommodated in Schizoparmaceae (Diaporthales) based on multi-gene phylogenetic analyses and morphology ( Von Höhnel 1918, Rossman et al. 2007). Currently, 58 accepted species are listed in Species Fungorum (2023). The sexual morph of Coniella View in CoL was described by having solitary, globose ascomata, coriaceous, papillate with periphysate ostiole in the middle, unitunicate, clavate to subcylindrical asci, with “J-” apical ring, hyaline to pale brown and ellipsoidal ascospores ( Hyde et al. 2020, Tennakoon et al. 2021). The asexual morph of Coniella View in CoL is described as producing hyaline, olivaceous brown to brown, unicellular, thin- to thick-walled, ellipsoid, globose, smooth, napiform, fusiform or naviculate conidia ( Tennakoon et al. 2021). Species of Coniella View in CoL are often reported as pathogens, endophytes, and saprobes on fruits, leaves, roots, and stems of a wide variety of woody and herbaceous plants, or in soil ( Tennakoon et al. 2021).
