Holotype male (ZMH, examined). Type locality: Philippines, Mt. Isarog.

Austrophasiopsis luteipennis: Crosskey, 1976: 195 (conspectus of Oriental tachinids); Crosskey, 1977: 622 (catalog of Oriental tachinids); Dear & Crosskey, 1982: 132 (Philippine tachinids); O’Hara, 1996: 146 (tachinids described by Mesnil).

Type material examined. Holotype ♂: Philipp. / Mt. Isarog / IV. 1916 ( ZMH).

Diagnosis. Small brownish fly with reddish yellow legs, and with many yellowish white hairs on head, thorax, femora and abdominal base; vertex very narrow in male, about 0.08 of head width; mesonotum, except for scutellum, with fine black hairs mixed with whitish hairs, without distinct setae; scutellum with a pair of rather strong discal and a pair of fine and short parallel-sided apical setae; abdomen broadly brown-black in ground color.

Redescription. Body length: 5.5 mm.

Male. Mesnil (1953) mainly described this species comparing with A. formosensis , and we added here following characteristics. Head with dense, grayish-white pruinosity; frons at the narrowest point about 0.08 of head width; frontal vitta obliterated to a very narrow line on posterior 5/8; inner and outer vertical setae fine hair-like; ocellar and orbital setae absent; frontal setae fine, pale yellowish white; parafacial with 2–3 rows of whitish hairs, nearly as wide as postpedicel at middle height; gena about 0.15 of eye height; vibrissa absent, vibrissal area, subvibrissal area and subfacial with long whitish hairs; antenna falling short of lower margin of face by about 1/2 length of pedicel, postpedicel about 1.8 times as long as pedicel; occipital setae whitish; occiput without black hair; thorax without distinct setae except scutellum which bears rather long discal setae and several fine, rather long setae on posterior margin; thoracic dorsum with fine black hairs mixed with whitish hairs, pleura with only yellowish white hairs; wing orange yellow, paler posteriorly; relative lengths of costal sectors 2nd, 3rd and 4th approximately as 5:11:7; petiole of wing vein R 4+5 slightly shorter than dm-cu crossvein (10:11); legs reddish yellow, fore femora and apical portions of tarsi darkened; femora mainly with yellowish hairs; abdomen black, with fine black hairs dorsally, venter of syntergite 1+2 and 3rd tergite with whitish hairs.

Female. Unknown.

Distribution. Philippines (Luzon Is.).
