6. Pavonia hexaphylla (S.Moore) Krapovickas (1983: 269) ( Figures 1 , 5c , 6b ).

Pavonia mutisii var. hexapIhylla S. Moore ( Moore 1895: 314).

Holotype:— PARAGUAY. Near Barra de San Lorenzo , S. Moore 10 ( BM barcode 000583535 ! [digital image]; isotype, CTES [fragment])

Taxonomic notes: —Is an erect herb with pubescence (absorbent trichomes) to glabrous branches, ovate to sub-trilobed leaves (1.5‒4 × 0.6‒2.3 cm), six, filiform bracteolate epicalyx.

Distribution, habitat, and IUCN threat status: —Occurs in Bolivia, Paraguay, and Brazil. Covers the Brazilian regions of the Northeast, Midwest, and Southeast. The Northeast is registered for the states of Bahia, Ceará, and Piauí (Flora e Funga do Brasil 2022), however, no records were found for Ceará. In this study, the distribution of P. hexaphylla is extended to Pernambuco in the Mata Zone ( Mata Úmida subzone). It is registered in the Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural Pedra D’Antas. According to criteria B1 and B2 of IUCN (2022), P. hexaphylla has an EOO of 4,704,264.119 km 2 and an AOO of 224.000 Km². This species is here considered Least Concern (LC) due to its wide distribution and because it occurs in different phytogeographic domains.

Phenology: —Collected with flowers and fruits in December.

Specimen examined: — BRAZIL. Pernambuco: Lagoa dos Gatos , Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural Pedra D’Antas, 8º41’37”S, 35º51’21”W, 18 December 2010, E. Pessoa & A. Melo 468 ( JPB; UFP). Bahia: Barreiras, Cachoeira do Acaba Vidas , 11º59’39”S, 45º34’52”W, 01 April 2000, R.M. Harley 53815 ( HUEFS) .
