Athalia scioensis Gribodo, 1879: 342 . Locus typicus: Ethiopia, Scioa, Mahal-Uonz. Lectotype hereby designated by F. Koch: ♂. Scioa, Mahal-Uonz [09°34'N 039°54'E], III.1877, Antinori. (MCSN). Paralectotype: 1 ♀ from the same locality (MCSN).

Additional Ethiopian material. Sebeta, 08°54’N 38°35’E, 2165 m, 04.X.2010, P3418 (1 ♀), leg. J.-L. Boevé & D. N. Wayassa; Abijata Shala N. P., 07°29’N 038°40’E, 1635 m, 17–25.IX.2012, with yellow pan trap, P3620B (1 ♂), leg. J.-L. Boevé & A. Pauly ( RBINS); Oromia, Ghedo, 09°01’N 037°27’E, 2400 m, with yellow pan traps, 03.IX.2013, P3804 (1 ♀; MFN), 12.IX.2013, P3807b (1 ♀), 15.X.2013, P3814 (1 ♀), leg. Z. A. Hora & A. Pauly ( RBINS).

Distribution. Ethiopia.

Host plant. Unknown. The female from Sebeta was analysed chemically in the search for remaining plant metabolites sequestered at larval stage, but no typical metabolites could be detected ( Opitz et al. 2012). Remarks. The wrong synonymy with A. fumosa proposed by Benson (1962) is discussed under this species.
