Genus Neacidiophora Enslin, 1911

Neacidiophora Enslin, 1911: 665 . Type species: Neacidiophora africana Enslin, 1911 [= Neacidiophora calo ( Konow, 1907a) ], by original designation.

Remarks. The 16 species ( Taeger et al. 2010) of the genus Neacidiophora are endemic for the Afrotropical Region, and are revised by Koch (1998). Meanwhile, N. quadrifoveata Koch, 1998 is recognized as a misidentification and synonymized with Kivua incrassata Pasteels, 1949 by Koch & Liston (2012c). Thus, 15 valid Neacidiophora species are known. The genus Neacidiophora is divided into two species groups, one with long antennae (more than 1.5 × as long as head maximum width) and flagellomeres 4–7 conspicuously longer than broad. In the other species group the antennae are shorter or maximally 1.5 × as long as head maximum width, and the flagellomeres 4–7 are not longer than broad. All Ethiopian species belong to the species group with shorter antennae, and they are bicoloured, more or less black and yellow.

Host plants. Unknown.
