Distribution. China (Henan, Shanxi, Zhejiang, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Guizhou, Hainan, Hong Kong, Taiwan), Japan, Korea, Russian Far East.

Remarks. L. atrebatinus orientalis was erected by Kluge (1983) from the Russian Far East based on imago specimens with abdominal terga II–VI white and transparent which can be distinguished from the European subspecies Labiobaetis atrebatinus atrebatinus . Fujitani et al. (2005) confirmed the distribution of this subspecies in Japan according to imagoes reared from nymphs, and synonymized the Taiwanese species L. morus (Kang & Chang) with L. atrebatinus orientalis . Unlike other Chinese Labiobaetis species, this species has a wider distribution range in China, and is very common in the streams with emergent or trailing marginal vegetation in moderately swift to fast-flowing current, but seldom found in large rivers.
