Lectotype (Lassen in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 482. 1997): Herb. Linn. No. 930.39 ( LINN) .

Current name: Trifolium stellatum L. ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Zohary (in Candollea 27: 130. 1972) treated material in Herb. Clifford ( BM) as syntypes. However, the two sheets there associated with this name are not part of a single gathering (so Art. 9.15 does not apply), nor were they explicitly cited by Linnaeus (so they are not syntypes). Lassen’s later choice of material in LINN as lectotype is therefore accepted here. See earlier comments on this name by Jarvis (in Webbia 45: 111-113. 1991).
