Elliptica lugubris (Dejean, 1825) View in CoL
Geographic distribution: Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Mali, Sierra Leone, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Ivory Coast, Uganda, People`s Republic of Congo and Kenya.
Distribution in Guinea –Bissau: 11B, 28, 34, 40, 41, 43, 44.
Specimens sampled: Cufada, 5.VII.2006, 2 ɗ, “DO”, ( AS).
Remarks: A big and polymorphic species with a wide distribution throughout western and central regions of Africa. The adults, in Guinea-Bissau, are found mainly at the shaded paths and footways of the forests, sometimes together with E. festivum and R. cinctus . Unlike the anterior Mission, in which several specimens of this species ( Serrano 1997) were sampled, during this one only the two sampled specimens were found. Apparently this seems an indication that populations of E. lugubris are probably being affected by the amelioration of their forested habitats.
