Ropaloteres flavosignatus (Castelnau, 1835) View in CoL
Geographic distribution: Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Togo, Cameroon, Central African Republic, People`s Republic of Congo and Sudan.
Distribution in Guinea –Bissau: 6, 28, 35, 36, 42, 43, 44.
Specimens sampled: Buba, 5.VII.2006, 1 ɗ, “DO”, ( AS); Cufada, 8.VII.2006, 1 Ψ, “DO”, ( AS). Remarks: A big and beautiful species with variable yellow-orange markings in the elytra. It has a scattered distribution throughout the western and central regions of Africa. This species is not common in Guinea- Bissau, the adults occurring only in the shaded and moist paths and footways of the forests. The accelerated destruction of forests in Guinea-Bissau during the last decade for large scale cultivation of cashew tree stands has contributed to the decline, or even extinction, of local populations of R. flavosignatus in places where it has been previously found (e.g. Mampatá-Guilege, Mampatá-Cumbijã, Coli).
