Xenelmis granata (Grouvelle) View in CoL

( Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 a–b)

Pronotum with micro granulate surface; anterior margin strongly arcuate, lateral margin crenate and feebly arcuate; two pairs of carinae formed by flattened granules—median pair complete, beginning on median acute projections at posterior margin, arcuate toward constriction at posterior 2/5, slightly widening toward anterior margin; lateral pair beginning on posterior margin, near postero-lateral angles, arcuate up to its mid-length where they become straight toward anterior margin.

Elytra shinning, anterior margin bisinuate, with acute antero-lateral angle, lateral margin strongly arcuate, converging to rounded projected apex; third elytral interval with short carina, about three times scutellum length; fifth and seventh intervals carinate—inner carina longer than outer.

Prosternum wide, granulate; prosternal process wider than half of anterior margin of prosternum width between fore coxae.

Abdomen micro granulate with posterior margin of ventrites strongly arcuate.

Legs with robust femora: fore femur robust, middle femur with dorsal margin arcuate, hind femur strongly robust with dorsal and ventral sides arcuate as illustrated by Delève (1970); middle and hind femora projecting apically beyond the articulation. Tarsomeres 1–4 with few fine, short setae ventrally, apical tarsomere with only pair of fine, long setae dorsally near apex.

Male genitalia as illustrated by Delève (1970) with strong constrictions near apical third of median lobe; parameres distinctly smaller than median lobe, apex with acute process turned outward and rounded process turned to median lobe.
