Lectotype (Arrigoni in Webbia 34: 260. 1979): Herb. Linn. No. 985.1 ( LINN) .

Generitype of Santolina Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 180. 1929).

Current name: Santolina chamaecyparissus L. View in CoL ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Although Marchi & D’Amato (in Inform. Bot. Ital. 5: 93. 1973) suggested that the type should be chosen from among three Clifford sheets (BM) (there are, in fact, four), this was not a formal typification. Although Humphries (in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 84. 1993) designated one of the Clifford sheets as type, his choice is pre-dated by that of Arrigoni, who chose material in LINN.
