Description of holotype female — Length 11.0 mm; wing 10.5 mm. Head: eyes black, without bands, with abundant, short brownish hairs ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Front pale brown, with grayish tomentum, darker on the ocellar triangle, bearing short, sparse black hairs. Front narrow, parallel­sided, index 2.2. Frontal callus black, with keel­shaped median projection extending more than half the height of the front, not touching eyes and subcallus ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Ocellar triangle dark brown, with three ocelli. Posterior border of the head gray; vertex with sparse short semi­erect black hairs. Subcallus grayish tomentose, without hairs. Clypeus and genae gray­whitish tomentose, genae with long whitish hairs, clypeus bearing black short hairs laterally. Beard with long whitish gray hairs. Scape of antenna black, basally with grayish tomentum and with short black hairs dorsally. Pedicel concolorous, with short black hairs. Basal flagellomere black with low dorsal median angle, apical flagellomeres dark brown ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Maxillary palpi slender and elongate, with blackish gray pollinosity and short black hairs ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Proboscis black, labella black, large and fleshy ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Thorax: mesoscutum dark brown, bearing two short longitudinal grayish stripes. Notopleural lobe brownish gray, with long black and gray hairs. Scutellum dark brown, without pruinosity, with long grayish hairs only on lateral border. Pleura blackishgray, with long grayish hairs. Legs dark brown, coxae and femora grayish, with long gray hairs, tibiae and tarsi with short black hairs. Wings hyaline, Sc and R1 setose, without appendix on R4. Basicosta bare. Halteres dark brown. Squamae concolorous with base of wing. Abdomen: dark brown dorsally, with short black hairs, pale brown laterally on tergite II, posterior border of tergites lighter, with grayish hairs and with median grayish pilose triangles; lateral border of tergites with long grayish hairs. Sternites blackish­gray with abundant black hairs ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ).

Genitalia: cerci subovoidal, with short hairs ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Tergite X subrectangular, sclerotized ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Tergite IX subtriangular ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Gonapophysis projected distally, concave, with long bristles ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). VIII sternite with slightly convex base ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Genital fork with base narrow and slightly convex, with long and slender spermathecal ducts ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ).

Material: Holotype female, Chile, Talca Province, Altos de Vilches, 8­9.XII.2000, A. Vera Col. Paratype: 1 Ψ with same data. Holotype in Museo Nacional de Historia Natural de Santiago; Paratype in Instituto de Entomología collection, Univ. Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación, Santiago, Chile.

Etymology: patronym for Alejandro Vera the collector of this species and friend.
