Material examined. 1 male, labelled ‘ Cryptotendipes nodus Yan, Tang et Wang, 2005 , India, West Bengal, Burdwan [23˚22ʹN, 87˚85ʹE], 14.v.2020, Coll. N. Hazra’ .

Remarks. Yan et al. (2005) first described the species from the Oriental China. During the present investigation one male was caught in an open light trap. After careful examination of the specimen, it fully corroborates with Cryptotendipes nodus with the following combination of characters: AR 1.54–1.94, acrostichals 2, apically swollen anal point, length of gonocoxite 63–100 µm and HR 0.59–0.75, 0.68. The length of anal point (72 µm long), gonostylus (101 µm long) and superior volsella (25.3 µm long) of Indian specimen is shorter compared to Chinese counterpart. Upon examining the Indian specimen we found that gonostylus is slightly expanded basally bearing 6 long setae; superior volsella is apically tilted forming a ridge with 3 unequal setae of 9.2–11.5 µm long ( Figs. 4 View FIGURES 4 A–B). DNA barcoding of the specimen was done first time.

Distribution. The species is for the first time reported from India in this study. This species was also found in the Oriental China (Hainan and Hubei Province).
