Bennett’s Mud Snake

Singapore records.

Hypsirhina bennettii —Steindachner, 1867: 68.

Remarks. Steindachner (1867) remarked that a specimen of M. bennettii was collected in Singapore during the Austrian Novara circumnavigational expedition between 1857 and 1859. As M. bennettii is only found in southeastern China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and northern Vietnam (Wallach et al. 2014), the specimen locality is incorrect. We found no other publication that references this record.

LKCNHM & NHMUK Museum specimens. No specimens.
