Distribution

Europe (except the north) and the Balkans, where it prefers foothills to alpine regions ( Arndt et al. 2011).

Notes

It is a mesoxerophilous and polyphagous species, which prefers to live in forested areas ( Varvara and Apostol 2008). It feeds on a mixture of seeds from agricultural crops, weeds and shrub species ( Lundgren 2009). In this study, it was only found in the wheat field in the homogeneous area (n = 1).
