Chydorus patagonicus Ekman, 1900 View in CoL

Chydorus sphaericoides G. O. Sars, 1909 ; Chydorus sphaericus Ekman not Müller ( sensu Sars,

1909); not Chydorus sphaericus (O. F. Müller, 1785) ; Chydorus sphaericoides patagonicus

Ekman ( sensu Frey, 1980 ).

Descriptions: Sars (1909); Smirnov (1996). Listed in: Daday de Dées (1902); Ringulet (1955); Smith and Sayers (1971); Hansson et al. (1996).

Recorded from: freshwater lakes and/or pools.

Locations: South Georgia §, Falkland Is. §, [S. America].

Note. Smirnov (1996) suggested this species only occurs in South America, which implies the South Georgia and Falkland records (§) are suspect; and possibly referable to another Chydorus sp. , most likely C. sphaericus (the next species entry).
