Molina, 13 Jan. 2018 .

Remarks. Serène (1973) described Neosarmatium fourmanoiri from a single male specimen from New Caledonia (holotype) and two other male specimens (paratypes) from Queensland, Australia. This species has also been recorded from Fiji, Guam, Iryan Jaya, Sulawesi, Taiwan, and Vanuatu ( Davie 1994; Ng et al. 1997; Schubart & Ng 2002). The material from Mindanao agrees well with the descriptions and illustrations in Serène (1973: 126, pl. 3) and Davie (1994: 39, figs. 2C, D, 3). It can easily be distinguished from the preceding species by its live colouration, wherein the carapace and ambulatory legs are dark brown to black with tinges of purple, and the chelae are dark red. The present material was collected from mangrove swamps, with some observed in burrows next to a stand of nypa palms, and are syntopic with Cardisoma carnifex , Tiomanium indicum and Neosarmatium asiaticum in the Sindangan collection site.
