Diagnosis. This species can be distinguished by elytra partially smooth with lateral sides coarsely punctured ( Fig. 7) and anterior lobe of prosternum subtruncate ( Fig. 78) with coarse punctures. Additionally this species is characterized by eyes partially divided by ocular canthus, clypeus poorly emarginate above antennal insertions, protibia ( Fig. 82) externally slightly angulated and mesoventral process ( Fig. 79) flattened with coarse punctures.

Description. Measurements (mm, except ratios): BL: 1.3–1.4. BW: 1.0–1.1. PL: 0.2; PW: 0.7–0.8; PL/PW: 0.3; EL: 0.9–1.1; EL/W: 0.9; CO: 0.6. Form ovoid in dorsal view and very convex ( Fig. 7); winged. Body in general dark brown, ventral side lighter. Surface of head and pronotum with coarse microsculpture; pronotum vestiture consists of minute, uniform and sparse setae; elytra in part smooth with lateral sides coarsely punctured ( Fig. 7).

Head flattened. Clypeus ( Fig. 76) slightly produced, apex straight and slightly upturned. Eyes partially divided by ocular canthus. Mentum apical borders rounded. Antennomeres ( Fig. 77) VI–VII strongly transverse.

Anterior lobe of prosternum subtruncate ( Fig. 78) with coarse punctures, prosternal process coarsely punctated. Mesoventral process ( Fig. 79) broad and flattened with coarse punctures. Metaventrite ( Fig. 79) with coarse sparse punctures in posterior half, discrimen indicated. Elytra with lateral stria absent or not clearly visible. Abdominal intercoxal process ( Fig. 80) moderately broad; ventrite I microsculptured with sparse punctures. Protibia ( Fig. 82) with external border slightly angulated.

Male genitalia ( Figs 83–86); penis “L” form ( Fig. 85); penis guide ( Figs 83, 84) gradually narrowing to apex, acute to apex. Parameres ( Fig. 83) very short and acute apically with few apical setae.

Etymology. Dedicated to Jan & Bohumila Bechyně, late coleopterists and collectors of most of the type series.

Distribution. This species has the widest distribution for any known species of Parinesa , from Rio de Janeiro to Para St., Brazil ( Fig. 149), its southern range is sympatric with P. carioca .
