( Figs 20, 21, 148)
Parinesa whiteheadi Gordon, 1991: 315 .
Diagnosis. This wingless species can be characterized by length 1.2 mm, width 0.9 mm. Pronotum and elytra ( Figs 20, 21) mostly smooth and polished, but head and pronotum with fine microsculpture and minute, sparse setae. Head subquadrate. Eyes partially divided by ocular canthus. Clypeal apex slightly emarginate. Anterior lobe of prosternum rounded, broadly margined and covered with microsculpture. Protibia dilatated. Mesoventral process ( Fig. 21) flattened, parallel sided and margined. Abdominal process ( Fig. 21) broad. Genitalia not studied.
Note. This diagnosis is based on external characters of the only known specimen, the holotype. A more completed description needs to be based on dissected specimens.
Distribution. Dominican Republic ( Fig. 148), this is the only known species of Parinesa occurring in The Antilles.
Specimens examined.
