Diagnosis. This very distinctive species is recognized by its carinate mesoventral process ( Fig. 46), partially divided eyes, slightly emarginate clypeus apex ( Fig. 134); well developed anterior lobe of prosternum ( Figs 137, 138) and protibia ( Figs 48, 141) external border rounded.

Description. Measurements (mm, except ratios): BL: 1.3−1.4. BW: 1.0. PL: 0.2−0.2; PW: 0.7–0.8; PL/PW: 0.2−0.3; EL: 1.0−1.1; EL/W: 0.9−1.1; CO: 0.6. Body rounded ( Fig. 19) and convex ( Fig. 17); winged. Color black; ventral surface dark brown. Head and pronotum with microsculpture; pronotum densely punctate with uniform minute pilosity; elytra ( Fig. 17) glabrous and polished with fine sparse punctures.

Head ( Fig. 134) slightly flattened. Clypeus ( Fig. 134) produced, apex slightly emarginate. Eyes partially divided by ocular canthus. Maxilla as in Fig. 135. Antennal club ( Fig. 136) with three terminal segments enlarged.

Anterior lobe of prosternum ( Figs 137, 138) broadly rounded, microsculptured and irregularly punctate; prosternal process sulcate. Mesoventral process ( Fig. 46) narrow and carinate. Metaventrite ( Fig. 46) microsculptured with sparse coarse punctures, without discrimen. Elytra with fine sparse punctures, lateral striae reaching abdominal ventrite I. Abdominal process ( Figs 47, 140) narrow; ventrite I microsculptured. Protibia ( Fig. 141) external border broadly rounded.

Male terminalia, tergites 9 and 10 (T9 and T10) as in Fig. 142, spiculum gastrale as in Fig. 143. Male genitalia ( Figs 144−147): penis curved ( Figs 146, 147); penis guide ( Fig. 145) in ventral view asymmetrical and narrowing from apical fourth, apex rounded. Paramera ( Fig. 144) gradually broad to apex, which is rounded and slightly shorter than penis guide.

Etymology. Dedicated to Vilma Savini (MIZA), coleopterist, in recognition for her friendship and support of HE.

Distribution. This species is sympatric with P. jolyi , occurring in the cloud forest of Rancho Grande, Cordillera de la Costa, Aragua St., Venezuela ( Fig. 148).
