Gaeolaelaps Evans and Till, 1966: 159 , correct original spelling as clarified by Halliday and Lindquist (2007).

Type species — Laelaps aculeifer Canestrini (1884), by original designation (Evans and Till, 1966).

Diagnosis — The concept of Gaeolaelaps used here is based on that of Beaulieu (2009).
