Zoothamnium parasiticum Stein, 1859 View in CoL

Report as epibiont on rotifers: This species was reported as epibiont on unidentified rotifers ( Schödel 2018).

Remarks: This species was reported also on copepods, isopods, amphipods, cladocerans ( Mayén-Estrada & Dias 2021).

Zoothamnium sp. (in Rybka & Yuryshynets 2018)

Report as epibiont on rotifers: An unidentified species of this genus was reported as epibiont on Polyarthra vulgaris in the Dnipro river basin ( Rybka & Yuryshynets 2018).

Remarks: In the same survey of the Dnipro river basin, Rybka & Yuryshynets (2018) found several epibiont ciliates on other zooplankton, but only on one rotifer species. Rotifers had the lowest number of symbiotic species; all symbiont fungi, algae, and ciliate species found associated to rotifers were also found in other zooplankton hosts.
