Xyleborus pseudosolidus Schedl, 1936 , Rec.S.Aust.Mus. 5: 530. Xylosandrus pseudosolidus (Schedl) : Wood & Bright, 1992, Gt Basin Nat.Mem.
13: 800.
Based on the subcontiguous procoxae and the presence of a coarse median pair of asperities on the produced anterior margin of the pronotum, this species is here transferred to Cnestus . It is recorded from eastern Australia (Queensland, New 490 South Wales, Tasmania) (Wood and Bright 1992), and has been imported to New Zealand ( Brockerhoff et al. 2003). It is closely related to, and may be synonymous with, Cnestus solidus (Eichhoff) . The species appear to intergrade morphologically, but further studies are needed.
