Afrasura amaniensis ( Cieslak & Häuser, 2006) comb. n.

Asura amaniensis Cieslak & Häuser, 2006 , Nachr. Entomol. Ver. Apollo, N.F. 27 (4): 215–220.

Type locality. Tanzania, Amani (holotype 3 in Natural Museum of Kenya, Nairobi, not examined).

Diagnosis. Similar to Afrasura violacea from which it can be distinguished by having the base of the costa of the male forewing yellow instead of black, as in violacea . The yellow ground color distinguishes amaniensis from discreta and submarmorata , both of which are white. Male genitalia with distinctive shape of the ala valvae distal process and transtilla thicker than in violacea . Female genitalia similar to those of submarmorata , but differing by having a longer antrum and two large pleural pouches between A6 and A7. The presence of only two spurs on the hindlegs is an exceptional character in the genus Afrasura , and rare in the tribe Nudariini.

Remarks. Both amaniensis and violacea are included somewhat cautiously in Afrasura , although the genitalic characters tend to confirm this placement.
