The allantoides View in CoL -group

The allantoides -group is a monophyletic clade with a sister relation to the tricuspida -group (node 16). It is united by two homoplasious characters: the sternum is as wide as or slightly wider than long (Ch. 26, state 1); the sausageshaped spermathecae are apically blunt (Ch. 94, state 3).

Representatives of the allantoides -group are common, rather large-sized Mallinella species in rainforests of southern Thailand and Malaysia. They can be recognized by the dorsal pattern provided with a pair of anterior reniform pale patches, followed by three to four pairs of oval patches, in combination with a series of short transverse bands running longitudinally in between these patches. The posterior ventral spines are elongate and distally pointed.
