The melanognatha -group
The monophyly of the melanognatha -group is supported by a single synapomorphy: the spermathecae are distally modified, usually divergent and internally with a specific arrangement of the duct (Ch. 94, state 5). The phylogenetic analysis suggests that it is the sister-group of ( allantoides - + tricuspida -group).
Species account. Six species: Mallinella melanognatha ( van Hasselt, 1882) comb. nov., M. adonis sp. nov., M. elegans sp. nov., M. maruyamai Ono & Hashim 2008 , M. superba sp. nov., M. punctata sp. nov.
