Harpirhynchus longipilus Banks, 1905a: 20 , fig. 19; Fain 1995: 99 (type lost). Sarcopterus longipilis Banks, 1905b: 135 .
Hosts and distribution. Loxia View in CoL sp. ( Passeriformes View in CoL : Fringillidae View in CoL ) from USA (Washington) ( Banks 1905a, b). The only species of the genus Loxia View in CoL occurring in Washington is Loxia curvirostra ( Clements et al. 2014) View in CoL .
Remarks. Fain (1995) considered Harpyrhynchoides longipilus as species incertae sedis in the subfamily Harpirhynchinae. Its original description allows including this species to the genus Harpyrhynchoides ; however, is not enough sufficient to differ it from other congeners. This species could be a senior synonym of Harpyrhynchoides brevis (see remarks to this species).
