Material examined. Holotype female ( MNHN 23003 View Materials ) New Caledonia, Province Sud, La Foa, Sarraméa, col d’Amieu, Michel Boulard rec, 04/III/1 993, Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle ( MNHN), Paris. One paratype female ( MNHN 23004 View Materials ) same data as holotype .
Body measurements (in mm, first value refers to the holotype and second to the paratype). FL: 41.0, 40.3; FW: 14.4, 14.0; HW: 8.5, 8.6; HL: 2.9, 2.7; BL: 27.0, 26.8.
Description of female ( Figs. 7–8 View FIGURE 7 View FIGURE 8 ). Head. Vertex ocher with large pink ocellus; lateral ocelli surrounded by a black margin on the posterior and lateral sides; antero-median ocelli surrounded by black posterior margin. Epicranial suture ocher. Dorsal postclypeal area slightly convex, ocher. Scape and supra-antennal plate ocher. Antennal flagella and pedicel black. Postclypeus yellowish bearing ten to eleven black prominent transversal grooves; postclypeal suture ocher and deep. Anteclypeus ocher; lower part with blackish margin, covered by dense golden. Rostrum with labrum and mentum brown. Apex of rostrum reaching hind trochanter. Gena and lorum ocher with dense and long golden hairs.
Thorax. Pronotum ocher with lateral and paramedian fissure black. Pronotal collar and lateral parts entirely ocher with dense short golden hairs. Mesonotum ocher with three longitudinal black fasciae. The median fasciae running the cruciform elevation to reach the metanotum; lateral fasciae running along the sigilla. Scutal depression marked by circular black patch. Metanotum ocher with golden hairs on lateral part. Wing groove yellowish.
Wings. Forewings hyaline; venation yellowish to brown; radial crossvein and radiomedial crossvein with brown infuscation; apical cells one to four with a continuous apical infuscation. On hindwings, apical cells one to four with a continuous apical infuscation.
Legs. Fore femora ocher with broad, black longitudinal fasciae. Mid and hind femora ocher, with broad, black longitudinal fasciae. Fore and mid tibiae yellowish, becoming darker apically. Hind tibiae ocher. Fore and mid tarsi and claws dark brown.
Abdomen. Tergites 2 to 8 bicolor; anteriorly black and posteriorly ocher; covered by silver short pubescence; abdominal segment 9 ocher with a pair of longitudinal near-dorsal black fasciae that extend to the anterior edge and ventrolaterally to some extent; dorsal beak brown, terminally pointed. Sternites uniformly black.
Genitalia. Ovipositor sheath black with long golden hairs; reaching approximately the tip of dorsal beak of abdominal segment 9.
Male. Unknown
Diagnosis. Differs from P. marginata sp. nov. by wider wings infuscation, and tergites colour much more contrasted.
Distribution. Central chain montain of the Grande Terre of New Caledonia (La Foa, Sarraméa, col d’Amieu) ( Fig. 31 View FIGURE 31 ).
Derivation of name. Named from the locus typus “Amieu”.
