Dedalopterus malyszi Bunalski, 2001 View in CoL
( Figs 2C–D View FIGURE 2 ; 3D–F View FIGURE 3 ; 4A, E View FIGURE 4 ; 6A, D, G View FIGURE 6 )
Dedalopterus malyszi Bunalski, 2001: 248 View in CoL , fig. 1–3 (type locality: Vietnam: Lao Cai Province: Cha-Pa [Sa Pa]); Zídek & Krajčík 2007: 8, fig. 2a–g.
Type material examined. None.
Additional material examined. 1♂, 1♀ “ VIETNAM, Lao Cai Province, Sa Pa town , Hoang Lien National Park, v–vi.2003,> 1500 m, light trap, T. V. Hoang leg.” ( IEBR) ; 1♂ “ North Vietnam , Sapa, Lao Cai Prov., 12.v.1995, M. Sato leg.” ( MHNG) ; 1♂ “ Lao Cai Prov., Hoang Lien NP. Thac Bac, 1788m, 22.3591171˚N 103.7802435˚E, at light, 12.iv.2010, leg. L. Papp, L. Peregovitz & Z. Soltesz, VN 2010PL_9” ( MHNG) ; 1♂ “ Lao Cai Prov., Hoang Lien NP. Tram Ton, 1915m, 22.3493723˚N 103.7704565˚E, forest edge, at light, 8-11.IV.2010, leg. L. Papp, L. Peregovitz & Z. Soltesz, VN 2010PL_4” ( MHNG) .
Diagnosis. Costae 2–3 unclearly subdivided into two stripes jointed past middle; intervals 1–3 and elytra suture, bearing white large dense scales; interval 4 with yellow narrow scales; epipleura bear short and dense yellow hairlake scales, one row of narrow yellow scales in male and epipleura bearing white, large scales in female. Male genitalia: long and simple; basal part longer, asymmetric paramere; left paramere usually bigger and longer than right; curved at tips and very short piled beneath.
Distribution. Known only from Vietnam (Lao Cai).
Remarks. A male specimen collected in Lao Cai Province has epipleura with short and dense yellow hair-like scales, mixed with many large white scales. This means that the species has some considerable variation.

Dedalopterus pulchellus Sabatinelli & Pontuale, 1998: 69 View in CoL ; Keith et al. 2012: 387 (new record for China).
Dedalopterus bezdekorum Zídek & Krajčík, 2007: 9 View in CoL , fig 3a–g, new synonymy
Type material examined. Paratype (♂) of D. pulchellus Sabatinelli & Pontuale, 1998 “ LAOS, Kieng Kouang [= Xiangkhouang], 16.vi.1916, R. Vitalis de Salvaza leg.” ( MHNG) ; Paratype (♂) of D. bezdekorum Zídek & Krajčík, 2007 “ LAOS NE, Hua Phan prov., Ban Saluei, Phou Pan Mt , 20˚15’N 104˚02’E, 1500–2000m, 26.iv.-11.v.2001, J. Bezděk leg.” ( MHNG) .
Additional material examined. 98♂♂, 58♀♀ “ LAOS, Hua Phan Pro., Ban Saleui, Phou Pan (Mt.), 20 o 12’N, 104 o 01’E, 11.iv–15.v.2012, 1300–1900m, C. Holzschuh leg.” ( ZFMK) GoogleMaps ; 2♂♂, 1♀ “ LAOS, Hua Phan Pro., Ban Saleui, Phou Pan (Mt.), 20 o 12’N, 104 o 01’E, 7.iv-25.v.2010, 1300–1900m, C. Holzschuh leg.” ( ZFMK) GoogleMaps ; 23♂♂, 2♀♀ “ LAOS, Hua Phan Pro., Ban Saleui, Phou Pan (Mt.), 20 o 12’N, 104 o 01’E, 1.v-31.v.2011, 1300–1900m, C. Holzschuh leg.” ( ZFMK) GoogleMaps .
Diagnosis. Intervals 1–3 contain large, oval, imbricating white scale filling also interval 2 within costae 2–3 and mesial part of interval 2 within costa 4; interval 4 and lateral part of interval 2 within costa 4 contain short beige setae; epipleura contains beige hairs about 3x longer than setae, most of them recumbent but some erect; and elytra suture contains narrow white to yellowish-white scales only about one-half as large as those in intervals 1–3. Male genitalia: parameres equal length, with abruptly constricted short distal sections curving to right and have truncate tips; left tip may or may not be slightly bulbous.
Distribution. Known from Laos ( Sabatinelli & Pontuale 1998; Zídek & Krajčík 2007; Keith et al. 2012). The species was also reported from China, Mt. Gaoligongshan ( Keith et al. 2012), but its identification need to be confirmed considering the source of material studied.
Remarks. The paratype of D. pulchellus Sabatinelli & Pontuale, 1998 and the paratype of D. bezdekorum Zídek & Krajčík, 2007 examined here are almost identical in shape of aedeagus, their type localities are not distant from each other. The species of Dedalopterus show in shape of the parameres some considerable variation. The apparent divergence of the tip of the parameres, particularly of the left one, is a result of the flexion of the moderately sclerotized parameres along their own longitudinal axis, which is why some parameres appear to be narrower and more sharply pointed while others are wider and more convex at apex (see Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ). The record of this species from China is doubtful because this record is based on the material provided by Laotian dealer Jingke Li, who sometimes mislabeled his material.
